Who is Alex Morgan?
She is an American professional soccer player who plays for the Orlando Florida-based professional women’s soccer team “Orlando Pride” of the “National Women’s Soccer League” (NWSL). She was the youngest player on the National Team at the 2011 FIFA “Women’s World Cup”.
She finished the 2012 season with 28 goals and 21 assists joining American former soccer player Mia Hamm as the only American woman to score 20 goals and provide 20 assists in the same calendar year and making her the sixth and youngest U.S. player doing the same.
She was also named “ U.S. Soccer Player of the Year” along with “FIFA World Player of the Year” finalist. She was named Dream Team for the 2015 & 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup & she also won the “Silver boot” in 2019. She was ranked as the top-paid American women’s soccer player, by the American news magazine “Times magazine” in 2015. In 2019 she was also named as the “100 Most Influential People” of 2019 by the Times.
She was Born on 2nd July 1989 in the Los Angeles County suburb of San Dimas, California. Her father’s name is Michael Morgan & mother is Pamela Morgan. She has two elder sisters named Jeni and Jeri. She was a multi-sport athlete and started playing soccer at an early age with “The American Youth Soccer Organization” (AYSO).
She studied at the “Diamond Bar High School” where she was known for her speed and sprinting ability. At seventeen years of age, she was selected for “The United States U-20 women’s national soccer team”.
She attended public research University UC Berkeley & played for the California Golden Bears Athletic team from 2007 to 2010. During a match against Stanford in the second round of the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship in 2007 she scored an equaliser with less than two minutes left.
On 14th January 2011, she was the first overall pick at the “2011 WPS College Draft” by the Western New York Flash.
She was one of the three national team players to join the Portland-based women’s professional Soccer team “Portland Thorns FC” for the inaugural season of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). She finished the regular season as the team’s point leader joined with Canadian Professional Soccer player Christine Sinclair.
On 26th October 2015 was announced that the Thorns had traded her along with teammate Kaylyn Kyle to an expansion team Orlando Pride.
She was the youngest player at the U.S.National team that placed second in the “ 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup”.She scored her first FIFA Women’s World Cup” goal in the 82 minutes of the semi-final match up against France giving the USA a 3–1 lead and victory. She finished eighth in the balloting for the 2011 FIFA World Player of the Year. In June 2012 she What nominated for Best Breakthrough Athlete ESPY Award. In the opening match of the 2012 London Olympics group play, she scored both the equalizer and the goal that sealed the win against France.
In the 2015 “FIFA Women’s World Cup Final,” the USWNT defeated Japan 5-2 to win its third FIFA Women’s World Cup. She played in all seven World Cup Finals matches and started in every one of them since being restored to the starting XI against Nigeria.
She married American Soccer player Servando Carrasco on 31st December 2014. Their daughter was born on 7th May 2020 named Charlie Elena Carrasco. She has already been set out for Tokyo Olympics 2021 but she is not sure about the restriction with breastfeeding one year daughter with her as per her latest Twitter post in her account.
