Goodrem was born on 9th November 1984, to her parents Lea Parker and Denis Goodrem. She has a younger brother, named Trent. During residing in Glenhaven, she attended the Hills Grammar School in neighbouring Kenthurst, from kindergarten until Year 11.

After announcing in late December 2003 that she was in remission, Goodrem started working on her second studio album. She received two nominations at the 2004 Logie Awards including a Gold Logie nomination for “Most Popular Personality on Australian Television”.
