Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini who is famous by her stage name Doja Cat as a teenager started making & releasing music on the Swedish online audio distribution platform “SoundCloud”.She has been nominated for three Grammy Awards & six Billboard Music Awards & has won the two American Music Awards. American Business Magazine “Forbes” listed her name in the “one of the top breakout stars of 2020” & also listed her on their annual 30 under 30 lists.

Early Life

She was born on 21st October 1995 in Los Angeles the largest city in California in the United States. Her mother Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer is a painter & her father Dumisani Dlamini is a South African actor.

At a very young age, she moved to Sherman Oaks nearby area of Los Angeles where they lived in a Hindu spiritual home called ashram in the Mountains of Agoura Hills in Los Angeles and Practiced Indian religion Hinduism for four years. Apart from this she also sang the Indian devotional song  “bhajan”.She has also taken training in Indian classical dance Bharatanatyam. After moved away from Ashram after four years she dropped out of high school at the age of sixteen to pursue a singing career.

Career

In 2012 upload her debut single song “So High” on SoundCloud which took attention some record publishing company. In August 2014 she released her debut extended play Purrr!.

In August 2018 she uploaded a completely self-produced Music video “Mooo!”.Video becomes a viral success as a meme.

In October 2019  she released “Bottom Bitch”, the lead single from her second album followed by the release of the single “Rules” alongside the announcement of her second studio album Hot Pink. Released on 7th  November 2019 it ranks at number nine on the Billboard 200.

“Say So” another single from the Studio album Hot Pink, the solo version of the song ranks at number five on the Hot Hundred. It also becomes her first top 10 single. Later on, the song becomes the most-streamed song of 2020 by a female artist in the United States. In May 2020 remix release of the same song featuring Trinidadian-born singer and rapper Nicki Minaj topped the Billboard Hot 100. At the 20th BET Awards, she was nominated for Best Female Hip Hop artists and video Of the Year category. 

In August 2020 her song “Freak” was released on a digital platform and she won the Push Best New Artist Award at the 2020 MTV Video Music Award. She was featured on the album track “Motive” Song by American singer Ariana Grande. It ranks at number thirty-two on the  Billboard Hot 100.

American monthly magazine Rolling Stone included her name in the ten biggest breakthrough artists of 2020. American Business Magazine Forbes listed her name as “one of the top breakout stars of 2020”. Ukraine’s oldest English newspaper The Kyiv Post told her “one of the biggest rising female artists in the U.S.She was also the fourth most Googled musician of 2020 in the United States. The American news magazine Times magazine placed her name in the “Time’s 100 next” list, among other 100 rising figures.

“Kiss Me More” her song released on 9th  April 2021. In May 2021 she won the award for Top Female R&B Artist at the 2021  Billboard Music Awards. The solo version of the same song she performed in the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards where she won the award for Best New Pop Artist. American pop singer and songwriter Slayyyter also praised her singing style and the emotion she put into her songs. On 14th January 2021, American rapper and songwriter, Megan Thee Stallion featuring her song “34+35” which was a remix. The second single her sixth studio album positions she featured with her. Music video of the remix was released later in February 2021. On 9th 2020 October 2020, American singer and songwriter Bebe Rexha releases “Baby, I’m Jealous” featuring her.

Starting in the Year 2021 he has purchased a Home in Beverly Hills California for $ 2.2 million (Rs 16.07 Cr).
