Early life

He was born on 18th February 1994 in Gwangju, the sixth-largest city in South Korea. He has an older sister named Jung Ji-woo who lived along with his parents in his family. Before his joining BTS he was part of the underground dance team Neuron and took dance classes at Gwangju Music Academy for six years. In March 2019 He had taken this admission at Hanyang Cyber University for the  Master of  Business Administration in advertising and media.

He has joined BTS on 13th June 2013 under the Big Hit Entertainment on South Korean pay television music channel Mnet with the track “No More Dream” from their debut single album 2 Cool 4 Skool.

BTS is the seventh member South Korean boy band and also known as Bangtan Boys. Including him, there are other six number in this boy band they are Jungkook, V, Jimin, RM, Suga & Jin.

Their first Korean compilation album of  BTS “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever” was released in May 2016. The album topped the Gaon Weekly chart and ranked in number  107 on the US Billboard 200. They became the first K-pop group to receive their own Twitter emoji in May 2016.

In September 2016 BTS released their second Japanese album “Youth”. On its first day of release, the album sold over 44000 copy along with rank at number one in Japan. Next year in November  BTS becomes the first K-pop group to perform at the Annual American Music Award Show “American Music Awards”.In the same month “Guinness World Records”  revealed that BTS has made their place in their 2018 edition for “having the world’s most Twitter engagements for a music group”.

He released his first solo mixtape Hope World on 1st March 2018. It ranks at number 38 on Billboard 200 making him the highest-charting Korean solo act on the chart up to that point. 

In 2019  released a song “Chicken Noodle Soup” and the track ranks at number 81 on Billboard hot hundred with 9.7 million streams making him the first member of BTS to ranks on the Hot 100 as a solo artist outside of the group.

On 1st March 2021, he released a full, three-minute-long version of its closing track “Blue Side” and was uploaded on the BTS Soundcloud page.

Since 2018  has been a member of the “Green Noble Club”, which recognizes high-value donors of Child Fund Korea. On 18th February 2019, he donated $ 90,000 (Rs 65.31 Lacs) to the organisation. On 17th November 2020, he donated $ 90,000 (Rs 65.31 Lacs) in support of children experiencing economic difficulties in the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the support of children who has visual and hearing impairments, he donated $ 135,000 (Rs 97.95 Lacs) on 18th February 2021. He donated $  90,000 (Rs 65.31 Lacs) for the children affected by violence in Tanzania Africa 4th May 2021.
