He is a South Korean singer-songwriter and a member of the South Korean boy band BTS. Kim Seok-jin, better known by his stage name Jin is a member of this band since 2013. Three solo track release by him “Wings” in 2016, “Epiphany” in 2018 & Map of the Soul: 7 in 2020 have charted on South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart. In 2018  he has received the award fifth-class Hwagwan  Order of Cultural Merit by the president of South Korea. 

Early life

He was born on 4th December 1992 in Gwacheon, is a city in Gyeonggi Province South Korea. He has an older brother along with his parents in his family. He has attended Konkuk University and has received his degree in art and acting in 2017. After completing this he has taken his admission to the Hanyang Cyber University for carried on his studies in other different areas of music. 

Career

On 13th June 2013, He started his career as a vocalist in BTS in their debut single album “2 Cool 4 Skool”. BTS is also named the Bangtan Boys is a seventh member South Korean boy band along with him started in 2013 under the Big Hit Entertainment. It is a South Korean entertainment company established in 2005. The other six members of the band are as follows rapper, songwriter and record producer Suga, rapper songwriter dancer and record producer J-Hope, rapper, Songwriter and record producer RM, Singer-songwriter and dancer Jimin, Singer-songwriter and actor V & Singer and songwriter Jungkook. 

The band becomes the first Korean Group to get the certification under the “Recording Industry Association of America”.The band has already been sold over 20 million albums on the  Gaon Music Chart Of South Korea. The band also becomes the best selling artist in South Korean history & holds the bestselling album in South Korea with “Map of the Soul: 7”. The band contributed $ 4.65 billion (Rs 3,37,02.36 Cr)  every year to the South Korean economy by their band performances which are 0.3% of the total GDP of South Korea.

Within a short span of time BTS group has received so many prestigious awards including six American Music Awards, nine  Billboard Music Awards, and 24 Golden Disk Awards. they have also received nominations for Grammy Awards and Brit award.

After the establishment of their anti-violence campaign “Love yourself” collaborated with UNICEF, they become the youngest ever receiver of The Order of Cultural Merit from the president of South Korea for their contribution to spreading Korean culture and languages.

On 4th June 2019, he released his first independent song  “Tonight” as part of the 2019 BTS Festa, a yearly event celebrating the anniversary of the band’s debut. The track was received a Wonderful response from the audience.

Before his 28th birthday on 3rd December 2020, He released his solo song  “Abyss”.Apart from singing, he can play the guitar also. 

In December 2018 he donated food to the Korea Animal Rights Advocates. He is also a monthly Donor of UNICEF  Korea. In May 2019 He donated $ 84,000 (Rs 60.93 Lacs) to the  UNICEF Honors Club.

In 2019 he was ranked 13th Most popular Idol, According to the American Analytics and advisory company Gallup, Inc.

In 2018 with his older brother he has started a Japanese-style restaurant in Seoul called Ossu Seiromushi.
