She is an American singer-songwriter. Mariah Carey is the first artist in history to have their first five singles reach number one on The Billboard Hot 100. She got her fame in 1990 with Title debut album Release under the American record label company Columbia records. According to The Recording Industry Association of America, She is the highest certified female artist in the United States with 68.5 million Certified album units. She has won five Grammy Award, nineteen World Music Awards, ten American Music Awards and fifteen  Billboard Music Awards.

Early life

She was born on 27th March 1969 in Hamlet located in town Huntington, New York. Youngest of her family her father  Alfred Roy Carey, an aeronautical engineer by profession and her mother Patricia former opera singer.

During her school life in Harborfields High School Located in Greenlawn, New York she began writing poetry and lyrics. She becomes a graduate in 1987.

Career 

Self-titled debut album topped the Billboard 200 for eleven consecutive weeks & she won Grammy Awards for Best new artist And best female pop vocal performance for her single “Vision of Love”.

In 1993 she embarked on her debut tour  Music Box Tour. The second single of the album “Hero” becomes her eighth chart-topper in the United States and has been noted as her signature song. The album also becomes her best-seller and one of the world’s best-selling albums of the recorded music of all time with worldwide sales of over 28 million copies.

Her first Christmas album Merry Christmas was released on 1st November 1994. Become the best selling Christmas album of all time with sales of over 15 million copies worldwide.

Her next album Daydream which is noted as the album her best to date. The second single of the album “One Sweet Day” remained atop the Billboard Hot 100 for a record-breaking 16 consecutive weeks & also becomes the longest-running number-one song in the history of chart number. The album also nominated at The 38th Annual Grammy Awards.

She received The Billboard Music Awards of the decade’s Award For best-selling pop female Artist of the millennium. She signed a $ 100 million (Rs 7,30.85 Cr) five-album recording contract with the British independent record label company virgin record in April 2001.

Her next album release in April 2005 The Emancipation of Mimi. Single of the album “We Belong Together”  broke many records in the United States and became her sixteenth chart-topper on  The Billboard Hot 100. After staying at number one for fourteen non-consecutive weeks, the song became the second longest-running single in US chart history. 

She set another record, in September 2005 by becoming the first female to occupy the first two spots atop the Hot 100. As “We Belong Together” becomes ninth on The Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Songs and was declared the most popular song of the 2000s decade by Billboard.

The Emancipation of Mimi earned ten  Grammy Award nominations. She also won Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album for vocal performance &  Best R&B Song. The Emancipation of Mimi has sold over 12 million copies worldwide.

Her 11th Studio album E=MC² release on April 15th 2008. Two weeks before the album’s release, the Leading single of the album “Touch My Body” reached the top position on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her eighteenth number one and making her the solo artist with the Most number-one single in the United States history.

In 2010 American singer & songwriter Beyoncé was featured on Lady Gaga’s single “Telephone” and also appeared in its music video. The songs reached the top in the U.S. Pop Songs chart making the sixth number one both Beyoncé & Lady Gaga equalled with her.

Apart from the singing see also perform in the American drama movie Precious in 2009. Next year in 2010 she won the Breakthrough Actress Performance Award for her role in Precious at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

Her 2020 Christmas special Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special premiered on 4th December 2020 on Apple TV. Special guests including American singer and actress Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, American rapper Snoop Dogg and Mykal-Michelle Harris.

In 2008 she was named one of Time’s 100 most influential artists and entertainers in the world. She has inspired singers and songwriters all over the world. Among other hip hop, pop, and R&B artists who have entitled her name as an influence are Britney  Spears, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Ava Max Swedish singer Snoh Aalegra and so many other famous singers of the world. In the 12th season of American Idol, she was on the judge’s panel with the most followed rapper Instagram Nicki Minaj along with the American singer Keith Urban & Randy Jackson.

Social responsibility

On  29th March 2020, she was one of the headliners for The iHeart Living Room Concert for America hosted by English singer & songwriter Sir  John where she performed her song “Always Be My Baby” The event raised over $8 million (Rs 58.42 Cr) in the fight against Coronavirus disease 2019.

She began dating American music executive  & producer Thomas  Mottola and married him on 5th June 1993. But the couple announced divorce on May 30th 1997.  

After the divorce, she met actor and comedian Nick Cannon to whom she married on April 30th 2008 in  The Bahamas. The couple gave birth to their twins Moroccan and Monroe on 30th April 2011. But the couple got separated in 2016.

In 2015 she began dating Australian billionaire James  Packer & announced their engagement on 21st January 2016. But by the end of October, they ended their relationship. And at the same time after they ended their relationship she started dating American choreographer Bryan Tanaka.

She lives in millions of dollars of the mansion in a Luxe New York City Penthouse. The mansion spread over 10,500 square feet area along with a six-bedroom with the expensive grounds with violin-shaped pool.
